Dr. David Wood, MD

For 14 years Dr. David Wood has specialized in micro-invasive, targeted treatments for a variety of health problems, guided by state-of-the-art imaging technologies.

Dr. Wood obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Southern California. He stayed on at USC for specialty training in Diagnostic Radiology, followed by sub-specialty training in Interventional Radiology. He is double board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology.

For 11 years Dr. Wood served as Chief of Interventional Radiology at Banner-University Medical Center (formerly Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center) in Phoenix, AZ, where he also served as Chair of the Endovascular Committee. Dr. Wood has gained national attenton for his work with liver cancer, on which he speaks both locally and in national conferences. In his private practice Dr. Wood offers micro-invasive outpatient therapies in a boutique, personalized setting. Areas of expertise include uterine fibroids, pelvic congestion syndrome, May-Thurner syndrome, prostate enlargement, and peripheral artery disease, among others.

When not busy practicing medicine, Dr. Wood enjoys spending time with his wife and six kids and catching a baseball game.

Dr. Arthur Maydell, MD

Dr Maydell is originally from South Africa where he completed his medical school at the University of Pretoria, and internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, which is the hospital credited with having performed the first heart transplant in the world by famed Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Christiaan Barnard. Dr Maydell went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town and thereafter moved to Chicago, IL where he completed four years of Radiology fellowships at Rush University Medical Center to obtain the American Board of Radiology certification in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr Maydell completed two years of Neuroradiology fellowship, a year of Body MRI and Musculoskeletal MRI fellowship during which he received the ‘Fellow Teacher Award’ of the year as voted by the residents, and then a year of Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship.

Dr Maydell has been passionate about practicing Interventional Radiology ever since he was introduced to the field in residency, and over the past five years since fellowship has performed hundreds of angiograms and venograms per year treating a variety of medical conditions using minimally invasive techniques.

Dr Maydell’s interests are concentrated in the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD), uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), prostatic artery embolization (PAE), genicular artery embolization, hemorrhoidal artery embolization, May Thurner syndrome, lower extremity venous post thrombotic syndrome, pelvic congestion syndrome, varicocele embolization and new and developing minimally invasive highly effective Interventional Radiology therapies.

“I thoroughly enjoy the exciting field of Interventional Radiology,” Dr Maydell says, “I truly believe it is the future of Medicine. It is an incredibly collaborative and quickly advancing specialty that strives to constantly develop new minimally invasive yet highly effective procedures. I am very proud and enthusiastic to give my patients alternatives to traditional open surgery that can be equally as effective in treating their symptoms.”

In his spare time Dr Maydell enjoys traveling, going to gym, swimming in the pool and the sea, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Arnold Saha, MD

Dr. Saha is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. His initial training in Surgery was followed by Radiology residency at West Penn/Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh, PA where he trained with Dr. Gordon McLean, an early pioneer in the field of Interventional Radiology. He also completed a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Saha is double board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Saha has introduced a number of cutting edge, minimally invasive procedures to the El Paso region. For example, he was the first physician to perform Y-90 radioembolization of liver cancer in The Hospitals of Providence system, where he also served as Vice Chair of Radiology. Dr. Saha is a recipient of both teaching and research awards. His work has been published in respected journals and presented at both local and national conferences. Areas of expertise include peripheral artery disease, prostate enlargement, knee osteoarthritis, uterine fibroids, pelvic congestion syndrome, May-Thurner syndrome, and liver cancer, among others.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Saha enjoys spending time with his wife, travelling, learning languages, and serving in his local church.

Dr. Preston Smith, MD

Dr. Preston Smith is a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist who trained at the prestigious Medical College of Wisconsin fellowship. He specializes in treating patients with peripheral arterial disease, men’s and women’s health issues and a variety of other conditions. He attended the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. After practicing in Chicago, he has come back home to serve the people of Texas.
